READING CTC SUMMER BBQ, Sunday 11 July, 2.00 pm

Postby Squirrel » June 16th, 2010, 1:23 pm

Booking is now open for Reading CTC's annual Summer BBQ, which this year will take place at John Hammond's house at 28 Hilltop Road in Earley, Reading (OS map ref 175/747736) at 2.00 pm on Sunday 11 July 2010. All rides on that day will end at the BBQ venue, so you have the opportunity to work up an appetite for lunch ;) The format's a bit different this year, as we will also be presenting the road riders' awards, and we even have a bike-themed raffle with some tempting prizes! Tickets this year are priced at £10 for adults, or £5 for children under 16. This price includes all food (meat/veggie option, salads, bread, puds etc), one drink and a ticket for the raffle. Drinks will be available on the day, or you're free to bring your own drink if you prefer.

Tickets are available from me, Catharine Mackenzie on 07929 178960 or at socialsec@readingctc.co.uk, or from Al Neal (0118 967 9666) or Ian Doyle (07974 409607). When booking, please let us know if you're a vegetarian or have other special dietary needs. Early booking is strongly recommended: if you're interested in coming along, please let me know by Wednesday 7 July at the latest so that we can get numbers right for the catering.

Look forward to seeing you there!

Catharine

PS Any offers of help with food preparation, setting up, transport etc would be greatly appreciated - do let me know asap. Thanks.

Postby jdhammond » July 4th, 2010, 5:42 am

Hello,

In case you missed the item in the Club e-mag, the club BBQ will be held next Sunday at 2pm, 11th July at the home of John & Janette Hammond, 28 Hilltop Road, Earley. RG6 1DA (OS map ref 175/747736) All rides on this day will terminate at John's house. Tickets are £10 and include all food (Meat/Veggie, salad, bread, sweet...), first drink and raffle ticket. Vegitarians will be well catered for.

We will also be making the annual awards....See below.

Awards – YOU decide

At the BBQ, as already mentioned, there will also be a new format Reading CTC annual awards. These will be:
o The Alan Furley Award, for services to the club.
o The Newcomer Award, for the newcomer to the DA who has made their mark.
o The Leader of the year Award
o The “Amusing incident of the year” award.....

Please submit your nominations for the above awards to John Hammond, secretary@readingctc.co.uk. Please also explain your nomination, for example:
“ I nominate Fred Bloggs for the amusing incident of the year award. Fred started the moderate Sunday ride on a tricycle, but ended up with many failures so that he completed the ride on what was effectively a unicycle....”

Please email your Awards nominations, with reasons to secretary@readingctc.co.uk

I look forward to a nice day and an enjoyable time.
Best regards

John Hammond
